Wonder Sheet +PLUS

In addition to the demographic of the ‘original’ Wonder Sheet®, the Wonder Sheet® +PLUS is designed for those that may require extra stability on the sides of the bed. Residential Aged Care are in this demographic. Repositioning by the staff requires less effort which reduces the chance of back injuries and mobility in bed for the residents become easier.

From the manufacturer

The +PLUS extends the original Wonder Sheet to a client group with greater need — typically someone with less residual movement, greater dependence on carers for repositioning, or higher body weight. The underlying principle is the same. Standard cotton bedding is grippy by design, and that friction is often the actual limiting factor in whether a client can shift themselves in bed. Reduce it and three things change at once: the client may regain independent repositioning, which is the most effective and least expensive pressure-injury intervention there is; the carer's manual handling load drops on a task that is a leading cause of carer back injury; and shear at the sacrum falls, because the skin stops being dragged while the skeleton moves beneath it. Where the +PLUS earns its place over the original is in the harder cases — clients being moved by carers rather than moving themselves, where the forces involved are higher and the consequences of friction are greater. Three checks at assessment. Low friction works in both directions, so a client who slides more easily will also slide down the bed when the head is raised; watch for them ending up sacral-sitting, which is the posture that precedes a sacral injury. If the client transfers out of bed independently, confirm they still have enough purchase at the edge to push off. And confirm the sheet is compatible with the pressure surface underneath — a layer that cannot stretch will resist the mattress's immersion. Confirm current sizes and compatibility with the supplier before quoting.

We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
