From the manufacturer

Head support for an infant is not a scaled-down version of adult head support, and the Cuddles range exists because of that difference. An infant's head is proportionally much larger and heavier relative to their trunk than an adult's, and their neck musculature is not developed to hold it. For an infant with a neurological or neuromuscular condition, that combination means the head is unsupported far earlier and far more completely than it would be in an older child. It also means the consequences arrive quickly: sustained asymmetric head position in a young child contributes to positional plagiocephaly and can reinforce a postural pattern that becomes fixed. The range offers a three-pad head support and a contoured cradle support. The distinction is between **supporting** a head that has some control and **cradling** one that has none. A three-pad system gives lateral containment while leaving the back of the head free, which suits a child who can hold midline part of the time. A contoured cradle carries the whole weight of the head across a broad surface, which suits a child with no functional control and spreads load rather than concentrating it at two lateral points. Three things to attend to at review. First, head shape: any support that loads the same point continuously should be checked against the developing skull. Second, airway and swallowing — head position directly affects both, and a head held in too much flexion narrows the airway and complicates feeding. Third, growth: an infant's head and neck dimensions change fast, and a support fitted three months ago may already be positioning incorrectly. Build review intervals into the plan rather than treating this as a one-off fit. Configuration is prescribed per child. Contact us for a trial fitting.

We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
