The TubBuddy solves the harder version of the same problem. Where the SB1 crosses a shower tray step, the SB2 has to get a seated client over the wall of a standard bathtub — a higher barrier, and one that makes an assisted transfer genuinely dangerous to attempt by hand. Lifting someone over a bath wall is among the highest-risk manual handling tasks performed in a domestic bathroom, and it is a common trigger for either a carer injury or a decision that the person can no longer be showered at home. The SB2 uses the same chair-and-bridge principle: the client is seated in the chair, the bridge spans the bath wall, and the chair slides across without anyone taking their weight. No plumbing is altered, nothing is demolished, and the system can be packed down and taken to a new address. For a client who rents, or where a bathroom modification cannot be funded or would take months, that comparison is the substance of the funding case. It also functions as a shower chair and, with the commode system, over the toilet or at the bedside — so one item can cover bathing, toileting and continence care rather than three. Before quoting, measure the bath. Showerbuddy publish a fit range for the tub width and a BathCheck calculator on their site; a transfer system that does not span the specific bath is not adjustable into fitting. Also check the chair width against the bathroom doorway. Construction matches the rest of the range: 6061 T6 aluminium frame with 304 stainless hardware, tool-free assembly, locking casters, flip-back and removable arms, lap and chest belts. Where the client cannot hold an upright seated posture for the length of a shower, or needs pressure relief during longer bathing or bowel care, specify the SB2T with tilt instead.
We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
