From the manufacturer

The Wonder Sheet addresses friction, which is the quiet variable in most in-bed mobility problems. When someone tries to move up the bed, roll, or shift their hips, the limiting factor is often not their strength — it is the grip between their skin, their nightwear and the sheet. Standard cotton bedding is deliberately grippy. For a client with reduced power, that friction is the difference between a movement they can complete and one they cannot, and the point at which they stop trying and start calling for help. A low-friction surface changes that arithmetic. The client who could not shift themselves can. Independent repositioning is the single most effective pressure-injury intervention available and it costs nothing, so anything that restores it has a clinical value well beyond convenience. The second beneficiary is the carer. Repositioning a person up the bed by hand is a high-load task performed in a poor posture, and it is one of the most common causes of carer back injury. Reducing the friction reduces the force required. The third is shear. Dragging a client across a grippy surface holds their skin still while their skeleton moves — which is the mechanism of shear injury at the sacrum, and the reason a pressure injury can develop under a good mattress. Two things to check at assessment. First, low friction cuts both ways: a client who slides more easily also slides down the bed more easily when the head is raised, so watch for them ending up in a sacral-sitting posture. Second, a client who transfers out of bed independently needs friction at the edge to push off from — confirm the sheet does not compromise their sit-to-stand. Where the client needs more assistance than this provides, the +PLUS version extends the same principle.

We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
