Studio Enhance+ is a foam-and-spring hybrid rather than a powered surface, and that is the right prescription more often than the powered options get credit for. A static surface has no pump to fail, no cells to leak, nothing to switch off and nothing for a carer to misconfigure — which for a client at moderate rather than high risk is frequently the more reliable intervention. The pressure redistribution foam is Hygroflex. Studio Care cite RMIT University (2018) testing showing it improves envelopment by up to 30% over traditional memory foams, reduces peak interface pressure by 32%, dissipates heat 27% more effectively, and is 50% easier to roll on. That last figure is easy to overlook and clinically significant: memory foam that a client sinks into is memory foam they cannot turn themselves in, which removes independent repositioning — the cheapest and most effective pressure intervention there is — and shifts the work onto carers. Heat is the other underrated factor. Skin that stays warm and moist is more vulnerable to breakdown at a given pressure, so heat dispersion and a breathable cover are doing real work, not just adding comfort. Underneath is a five-zone individual pocket spring system, which supports the heavier pelvic zone differently from the shoulders and legs rather than letting the pelvis sink and the spine rotate. The low profile is a specific and deliberate feature: it keeps the sleep surface height down so the client's feet reach the floor at the edge of the bed. That determines whether a sit-to-stand from bed is safe and independent, and a thick mattress on a standard bed frame is a common cause of an otherwise avoidable transfer problem. Materials are hypoallergenic and the covers are breathable for airflow. Australian made — Studio Care design in-house and partner with A.H. Beard and Joyce Foams — with a 10 year warranty. Capacity is 250 kg. Where the client is at high risk, has an existing wound, or cannot reposition independently, an active surface such as AdaptAir is the appropriate step up.
