The Sentida range is designed around a specific and increasingly common expectation in aged residential care: that a resident's room should read as their home rather than as a ward, without giving up any clinical function. That is not a soft consideration. Environment affects agitation, sleep and orientation in dementia care, and a room that looks institutional works against every one of them. Equally, a bed a resident or their family finds distressing gets resisted — and a bed used reluctantly or partially delivers a fraction of what it was bought for. What the clinical function has to deliver alongside that: • **Height range.** The low position is a falls intervention — the distance fallen determines the injury, and lowering the bed is the restraint-free alternative to raising a rail. The high position is a carer intervention: working at the correct height is what prevents the back injuries that come from bending over a low bed repeatedly through a shift. A bed needs both, and the range between them is a genuine specification to compare. • **Backrest and knee break.** Raising the backrest supports breathing, feeding and reflux, but it also slides the resident down the bed and shears the sacral skin. The knee break resists that slide, which is why the two should be used together and why a bed with backrest elevation but no knee break is a compromise worth noticing. • **Side rail configuration.** A full-length rail that prevents exit is a restraint and carries assessment, consent and documentation obligations. A split or partial side used for repositioning support is not. Choose deliberately and document which you intended. Wissner-Bosserhoff build for the residential and aged care market specifically, so the durability, cleaning and serviceability expectations are set for continuous multi-resident use rather than single-client home use. Confirm current height range, safe working load, profiling functions and side-rail options with the supplier before quoting.
We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
