**This exists to remove one specific movement: stepping over the bath wall.** Stepping over a bath rim while wet, on one leg, with nothing solid to hold, is among the highest-risk movements in a domestic bathroom. A transfer bench spans the rim so the client sits down **outside** the bath on stable ground and slides across. The dangerous step never happens. It is the right answer for the very common Australian situation of a shower installed over a bath, where there is no separate shower recess and a standard shower chair cannot be used at all. **Safe working load 200 kg** — well above the 136–160 kg of most bathroom equipment, which makes it viable for a much wider range of clients. **Measure before ordering. Three things:** - **External bath width**, because the bench must sit securely on the floor on one side and the bath rim on the other. An unsupported leg makes the whole thing unsafe - **Wall clearance** at the outboard end — the client needs room to sit down before sliding - **Which side the client will approach from**, since that determines the orientation **Two large suction feet** hold the outboard legs. **Check the floor finish** — suction needs a smooth, non-porous surface, and most modern bathrooms use a textured anti-slip tile that will not seal properly. **The wide seat is the functional element**, not a comfort one: it is what gives the client enough surface to slide along rather than having to lift and reposition. Fully height adjustable, so the bench can be set level or fractionally sloped, and matched to the client's sit-to-stand height. Aluminium, so it does not corrode in constant wet use.
