**Collapsible rail kit, 860 × 450 mm** — sized for the SmartFlex 2 and 3. The Lo Lo takes a longer 1380 mm kit, so confirm the bed model before ordering. **Bed rails are a restrictive practice.** In Australian aged care they require assessment, consent and documentation before use, and they should be prescribed for a defined purpose — usually bed mobility support or preventing an unintentional roll — rather than fitted as a matter of course. **They do not reliably prevent falls.** Someone determined to get out of bed will go over or around the rail, and then falls further onto a harder landing than they would have otherwise. Where unassisted night-time exiting is the real risk, a low bed plus a fall mat is usually the sounder clinical answer. **Entrapment is the specific hazard to check at fitting:** gaps between the bars, between rail and mattress, between rail and headboard, and beneath the rail end. Check with someone lying on the bed, not on an empty mattress — a compressible mattress edge opens a gap only under load, and that is the gap that matters. **Collapsible** means it folds down rather than being removed, so it can be lowered for transfers and raised only when indicated — which supports purposeful intermittent use rather than a rail that is permanently up because taking it off is a job.
