The Q50 R Carbon is built from carbon fibre rather than aluminium, weighing from 14.5 kg without batteries. The carbon frame flexes over uneven surfaces, which provides some inherent shock absorption in a chair that has no suspension system. It folds in seconds without removing the battery, to 370 mm long × 570 mm wide × 767 mm high — small enough for a car boot, train or coach luggage space. The 10 Ah lithium-ion battery is IATA-approved under UN classification UN3171 for carriage on aircraft, though individual airlines set their own acceptance conditions and should be confirmed before booking. A second battery slot doubles range from 12 km to 24 km. Twin 250 W high-efficiency brushless motors climb obstacles to 40 mm. Overall width 570 mm, length 923 mm, seat width 440 mm, seat depth 420 mm, backrest height 464 mm, 210 mm drive wheels on 165 mm castors, top speed 6 km/h. Suited to travel and community use rather than as a primary all-day postural chair — there is no tilt, recline or powered seat function.
