The IRIS uses a unique tilt mechanism with a curved rocker arm, allowing the seat frame to rotate on the base frame while keeping the user's centre of gravity closely aligned with the chair's centre of rotation throughout the tilt cycle. That alignment delivers several clinical advantages: it allows the shortest wheelbase for manoeuvrability without compromising stability; it reduces the risk of front-loading the castors without sacrificing safety; it minimises the effort required to tilt; and by holding centre of gravity constant it eliminates the horizontal shift found in other tilt systems — a shift that can trigger spasticity, agitation in riders with cognitive issues, and protective extension reactions. Rotation ranges of 40 or 55 degrees can be set to achieve up to 45 or 60 degrees of posterior rotation. Power Tilt allows the rider to adjust their own position via a toggle switch on the armrest, supporting sitting tolerance and independence, and is available on IRIS, IRIS Heavy Duty and SR45, including as a retrofit kit. Attendant Control allows a caregiver to tilt without manual effort, with a battery gauge on the control panel and the ability to be hung anywhere on the chair. A reverse configuration places a larger wheel at the front for riders who want full tilt for pressure distribution alongside the ability to self-propel. The MONO Backrest System mounts the backrest to a single central post, so backrest and chair widths are selected independently, backrest height adjusts infinitely with the rider, hardware interference is eliminated for lateral thoracic support placement, two inches of midline offset is achievable, 30 degrees of mechanical recline is available and a dynamic back is easily added. Seat width and depth 14 to 22 inches; front and rear seat height 12.5 to 19 inches; seat angle minus 5 to 60 degrees; backrest height 15 to 21 or 18 to 24 inches; backrest angle minus 30 to 5 degrees; frame types 60, 70 and 80 degrees.
