A two-point support for users who need strong but comfortable abdominal or chest support. High-strength elastic padding gives enough stretch for comfort while still stabilising users with strong spastic tone, and the double-tapered shape spreads pressure across the midsection without restricting arm movement. Its most distinctive clinical application is respiratory. Placed across the upper abdomen just below the solar plexus, the Monoflex lifts the diaphragm and helps drive air out of the lungs on exhalation — compensating for low trunk tone where poor exhalation, not inhalation, is the problem. Bodypoint notes the same placement improves breath control and speech. Placed lower across the abdomen it compresses soft tissue to stiffen the trunk, which is the mechanism for treating simple forward-lean instability. Because it is a two-point support it mounts on almost any wheelchair, including low or flexible back systems where a four-point harness cannot be mounted at all. Available as Two-Piece Centre Release (dual pads with a front buckle, used alongside lateral supports and suited to more independent users) or One-Piece Underarm Release (single pad, more stretch). Sizes fit children through adults. A hip belt or other pelvic support must also be worn whenever an anterior trunk support is used, for both safety and effective positioning.
