The Boston is a compact scooter designed to come apart for car transport, which puts it in a different prescription category from the full-size Merits scooters. The relevant question at assessment is not the scooter's own specification but whether the person doing the lifting — the client, a partner, or a paid carer — can manage the heaviest single component repeatedly, and whether they can do it at the boot height of the vehicle actually being used. A dismantling scooter that nobody can lift becomes an unused scooter. As a compact model it is best suited to shopping centres, footpaths and short community trips on reasonable surfaces. It is not intended for sustained outdoor distances, steep gradients or rough ground; where those are part of the client's routine, the Aurora 2 Hill Climber is the appropriate specification. Merits Australia was acquired by K Care Healthcare Solutions in September 2023. Confirm current availability and component weights with K Care before quoting.
