From the manufacturer

The PSP name tells you the design intent: Posture Seat Polymer. It is a positioning cushion first and a pressure cushion second, and that ordering is the thing to check against your client. Invacare describe it as combining the stability and support of a positioning cushion with pressure redistribution. In practice that means a firm, shaped base that holds the pelvis in a defined position — preventing it from sliding forward into a posterior tilt, and resisting the lateral drift that produces a pelvic obliquity — with a polymer layer providing redistribution over the loaded areas. That combination suits a client whose primary problem is posture rather than tissue viability: someone who slides forward in the chair, sits asymmetrically, or cannot maintain a stable pelvic position through the day. Getting the pelvis stable is worth doing in its own right, because almost every other seating problem — trunk collapse, scoliotic posturing, head control, arm function, even breathing and swallowing efficiency — sits downstream of it. Where it is *not* the right choice is a client at high pressure-injury risk or with an existing deeper wound. A firm positioning base necessarily gives less immersion than an air or gel surface, and less immersion means a smaller contact area carrying the same load. For high-risk clients, specify an air or hybrid-air cushion and manage posture through the seating system rather than the cushion alone. Capacity is 136 kg. One fitting note: seat depth and width matter more on a shaped positioning cushion than on a flat foam one. A contoured cushion only positions correctly if the client's ischial tuberosities sit in the wells designed for them. Measure and fit it on trial rather than ordering to the chair's nominal size.
