A standing powerchair is prescribed for what standing does, not for what the chair does, so the submission should lead with the standing. The rationale usually cited for supported standing spans bone mineral density, spasticity and tone management, maintenance of hip, knee and ankle range against contracture, bowel motility, bladder emptying, and orthostatic and cardiovascular tolerance — alongside the functional and social benefit of being at standing eye level. The evidence base varies in quality across those outcomes, so a submission is stronger when it names the specific goals for this client and how they will be measured than when it lists the whole set. There is one benefit that is not in doubt. Standing completely unloads the seated surface. Tilt and recline redistribute pressure; standing removes it. For a client with a history of ischial or sacral breakdown who can tolerate standing, that is a categorically different intervention. The mechanism matters as much as the fact of standing. Levo's Low Shear system is designed so the seat and back track the body's segment lengths as the hips and knees extend. Without that, a standing frame drags skin and clothing against the surfaces during the transition — which introduces shear at exactly the tissue you are trying to protect. Ask about the shear geometry, not just the standing angle. The C3 is a mid-wheel drive base and, unusually, drives all four wheels for traction. Cubro publish a 1170 mm turning circle, kerb climbing up to 4", ramps up to 10 degrees, and speed options of 6, 8 or 10 km/h. It also offers powered tilt up to 35 degrees — past the roughly 25–30 degree threshold generally cited for meaningful ischial offloading, so the tilt is doing real pressure work on days when standing is not possible. Seat width and length adjust across a full child-to-adult range, which makes it a chair that can follow a young client through growth rather than being replaced. Capacity is 140 kg.
