**The petite frame with lateral support. Two separate decisions, both clinical.** **On size:** petite is a differently proportioned chair, not just a smaller-looking one. A smaller client in a standard lift chair cannot reach the backrest without their feet leaving the floor. They slide forward to get their feet down, lose all back support, and sacral sit — loading the sacrum where pressure injuries form. Measure before ordering: - **Seat depth** — two to three fingers between the back of the knee and the seat edge - **Seat width** — roughly 25 mm clearance each side of the hips, no more - **Seat height** — feet flat, hips level with or slightly above the knees **On lateral support:** the wings either side of the trunk stop the client leaning sideways. Specify them where trunk control is asymmetric or weak — hemiplegia after stroke, scoliosis, pelvic obliquity. Left uncorrected, a persistent lean becomes a fixed lateral posture: the trunk shortens on one side, the pelvis rotates, and load concentrates on one ischial tuberosity. Where trunk control is adequate, standard support is better — laterals restrict sideways movement and reach. **Get both right together.** Laterals set for a standard-size trunk sit at the wrong height on a petite client and do nothing useful. Size the chair first, then choose the backrest. **Dual motor**, so backrest and leg rest move independently. Headrest and lumbar support included. **Safe working load 158 kg.**
