**Tilt and recline, gas assisted.** Electric adjustment is available as an option — worth pricing where the carer will be adjusting position frequently or has limited strength, since gas struts still require a controlled push. Tilt is the function that matters clinically. Tilting the whole seat unit backwards keeps the hip and knee angles fixed while redistributing load off the ischial tuberosities and sacrum. Reclining the backrest alone opens the hip angle, which drags the skin across the sacrum — shear, which is what actually causes the tissue damage. For a client at pressure risk who spends extended time on a commode, tilt is the safer of the two, and this chair offers both. It also provides postural support for a client who cannot hold themselves upright, which a standard shower chair cannot. **The armrests reverse to sit in front of the occupant.** That is an anti-slide feature rather than a comfort one — it stops a client sliding forward out of the chair while being wheeled, which is a genuine risk once the seat is tilted. **Swing-away legrests with large calf pads.** Calf support matters in tilt: once tilted, the lower legs carry more load and unsupported calves press into the legrest frame. **Slatted backrest** for drainage and cleaning, on a stainless steel frame. **Both the seat and the slide-in pan rack are sold separately.** Without the pan rack this is a shower chair only, not a commode — confirm both are on the quote.
