The Cryo Fluid technology is a fluid option available for the JAY Fusion wheelchair cushion that excels at reducing the risk of pressure injuries. The patented Cryo Fluid provides more options for skin protection. It actively cools the seated skin surface for up to 8 hours (internal testing data at 25° C) while evenly distributing pressure, reducing shear, and lowering the risk of moisture. * Internal testing data at 25°C. Results may vary.

Cryo Fluid is a fluid option for the JAY Fusion cushion that addresses four pressure injury risks at once. Temperature: it actively cools the seated skin surface into the therapeutic range of 28 to 35 degrees for up to 8 hours (internal testing at 25 degrees ambient; results may vary). Moisture: cooler skin temperatures reduce the likelihood of perspiration on the seated surface. Pressure: the fluid evenly distributes pressure across the seating surface. Shear: a 4-way stretch Lycra cover reduces shear forces between cover and insert. The fluid contains millions of microbeads filled with paraffin wax that melts at a set temperature, transferring heat away from the skin, with graphite dispersing that heat throughout the fluid; microbeads re-solidify naturally once the fluid returns to ambient temperature. With traditional cushions, seated skin surface temperatures can rise to 37 degrees, and lowering skin temperature by as little as 1 degree can significantly reduce the risk of breakdown. The contoured closed cell foam base has a femoral transition and rear wall to prevent fluid migration while supporting the trochanters and posterior pelvis. Also available with Flow Fluid or air insert. Widths 40 to 60cm, depths 38 to 60cm, height 8.5cm. Total weight 3kg (40 by 46cm with Cryo Fluid). Maximum user weight 150kg for 40 to 50cm widths, 227kg for 56 to 60cm widths.
