**Crash tested and approved to ISO 7176-19.** This is the specification that changes what the chair can do, and it is worth leading a funding submission with. ISO 7176-19 means the chair has been tested as a **seat in a motor vehicle** — the client can be transported while seated in it, secured by a compliant tie-down system, rather than having to transfer into a vehicle seat and have the chair stowed separately. For a client whose transfers are difficult or need two people, that removes two transfers from every single trip. Most tilt-in-space chairs are not crash tested. **Dual Stability System (DSS): the backrest hinge is biomechanical, not a fixed pivot.** This is the detail that matters clinically and it is easy to skim past. On a conventional chair the backrest pivots on a fixed point, so as it reclines it travels a different arc from the user's spine — the backrest slides against their back, dragging skin over the sacrum and scapulae. That is shear, and shear is the mechanism behind most pressure injuries, not pressure alone. A hinge that follows the natural movement of the back removes that relative motion. Invacare position it specifically as decubitus prevention. **Tilt 25°, backrest recline 30°**, both easily adjusted. Be realistic about the 25°: it gives good postural variation and comfort, but meaningful offloading of the ischial tuberosities generally needs tilt beyond about 25–30°. For a client at genuine pressure risk requiring pressure relief through tilt alone, check whether 25° is enough or whether a higher-tilt chair is needed. **Seat width 390–540 mm, seat depth 430–500 mm** — a genuinely wide fitting range. **Total width is seat width plus 230 mm**, which is the figure to use when measuring doorways, not the seat width. **Turning radius 770 mm** — tight for a tilt-in-space chair and workable in most domestic settings. Seat height 450 mm, total length 1020 mm. **Flex 3 backrest plate adjusts for both height and width**, so trunk support can be set to the client rather than the chair. **Total weight 34 kg, transport weight 16.5 kg.** That difference matters — the chair breaks down to roughly half its weight for loading, which decides whether a single carer can manage it. **Electric tilt and recline is optional**, via a hand control operable by either the attendant or the user. Where the user can trigger their own pressure relief, they will do it far more often than if they have to ask. Maximum user weight **135 kg**. Maximum safe slope 7°.
