The Ocean Ergo seat plate is contoured from imprints left by seated users, which encourages a more upright and stable position, and is tilted so the knees lift into a natural squat position for toileting. Transfer supports at the front of the seat let the user position themselves rather than relying on a carer. Stability at the front of the base has been increased, which allowed the footprint to be reduced; the optimised wheelbase makes the chair easier for a carer to turn in a small bathroom and fits better over a standard toilet for independent toileting. The frame is corrosion-free stainless steel. The backrest is machine washable, tension-adjustable and released by quick-release buckles. Armrest height, footrest height and seat height are all adjustable, with an increased adjustment range over the previous Ocean. The chair disassembles without tools for transport and storage. Seat height 475–600 mm, seat 480 × 480 mm, total width 565 mm, total depth 905 mm, unit weight 17 kg. A 24" self-propelling version is available at 670 mm total width and 1050 mm depth, 23 kg. The modular design accepts off-the-shelf positioning, safety, toileting and seating accessories, so a chair can be reconfigured as a condition changes rather than replaced.
