From the manufacturer

The design intent here is stated plainly in the product's own description — taking the hospital look out of a homecare bed — and that is a clinical consideration, not a cosmetic one. A profiling bed is often the single most confronting piece of equipment introduced into someone's home. It signals illness, it changes the character of a bedroom, and it frequently means a couple who have shared a bed for decades no longer can. Refusal or reluctant, partial use of a prescribed bed is common, and when it happens the client keeps sleeping somewhere unsuitable — a recliner, a sofa, an unmodified bed — and every clinical benefit that justified the purchase is lost. A bed that looks like furniture is materially more likely to actually be used, and it is legitimate to say so in a submission. What the profiling function buys clinically: • **Height adjustment** sets the bed to the client's own sit-to-stand height, which is what makes an independent transfer possible — and separately sets it to a safe working height for a carer, which is the difference between an assisted transfer and a carer back injury. • **Backrest elevation** supports respiratory comfort, reflux management, feeding and social participation. Note the trade-off: raising the head slides the client down the bed and shears the sacral skin, so a knee-break should be used with it and the client's position checked afterwards. • **Knee break** resists that slide and takes strain off the lower back. Two checks before quoting. Confirm the bed's low height against the client's fall risk — if falling from bed is the concern, a floorline bed is the correct specification. And confirm the mattress specification alongside the frame; a profiling bed with an unsuitable mattress delivers a fraction of what was intended. Confirm current dimensions, capacity, profiling functions and warranty with the supplier before quoting.
