**Available at 205 kg and 250 kg — confirm which frame is on the quote**, because the two are not interchangeable and the difference matters for a bariatric client. **The higher seat is the clinical point of this chair.** Standing from a low, soft chair demands both quadriceps strength and hip flexion range. A higher seat reduces both, which is why it suits post-surgical recovery, and why it is often the difference between a client rising independently and needing a hand every time. **Under hip precautions it is close to essential.** After a hip replacement, flexion beyond 90° is typically restricted, and a standard lounge chair puts the client well past that as soon as they sit. A raised seat with an upright back keeps the hip within range. **The upright backrest is deliberate and shouldn't be mistaken for a lack of comfort.** A reclined back rolls the pelvis backwards into sacral sitting — which loads the sacrum where pressure injuries form, and makes standing up considerably harder because the client has to travel further forward before their weight is over their feet. Upright keeps the pelvis neutral and the client able to rise. **Fit is what makes it work:** - **Seat depth** should leave two to three fingers between the back of the knee and the seat edge. Too deep and the client slides forward to get their feet down, and ends up sacral sitting with no back support - **Seat width** should clear the hips by about 25 mm each side. Too wide and they lean, and over months that becomes a fixed lateral posture - **Seat height** should let the feet rest flat with hips level or slightly higher Comfortable seat padding with the upright back. Suitable for any room — and a chair the client will actually sit in matters, because the alternative is usually a lounge chair they cannot get out of.
