**Elevating the legs is prescribed far more often than it is set up correctly.** The usual reason is oedema — raising the lower limbs above heart level assists venous and lymphatic return. But two things are commonly got wrong, and both matter: **Support the whole limb, not just the feet.** A stool that props only the heels leaves the calf unsupported and concentrates load on a small area. The heel is one of the most common sites of pressure injury, and it is unforgiving because there is almost no soft tissue over the bone. Position the stool so the calf is supported along its length and the heel is not the contact point. **Height should be adjusted, not assumed.** Set too high, the knees hyperextend and the hips flex further, which pushes the client into sacral sitting and undoes the postural work the chair is doing. Set too low, there is no meaningful venous return benefit and it is just a footrest. **Height adjustable**, which is what allows both to be got right — and worth actually adjusting at handover rather than leaving at the default. **4.5 kg.** Light enough for the client or a carer to reposition without help, which decides whether it gets used at all. A stool too heavy to move ends up permanently in the wrong place or pushed aside. **Easy-clean fabric**, relevant where the stool sits under legs with wounds, dressings or compression bandaging. Fits day chairs, hospital chairs and most other seating.
