Read Blake Medical's own indication carefully before prescribing this one, because it is unusually honest and it rules clients out. They describe the Bronze as being for active people **whose skin protection is secondary to comfort and vibration control**, where the user has some degree of mobility and postural control and is able to reposition themselves. That is a narrow and specific client. If your client cannot shift their own weight, or has a history of skin breakdown, or has reduced sensation, this is the wrong cushion — not a marginal choice but the wrong category of product. Say so early rather than discovering it at review. Where it fits is the active user for whom the problem is not tissue viability but ride quality: someone who self-propels or drives all day, feels every crack in the footpath through the frame, and finishes the day sore and fatigued. A two-layer all-gel construction damps that vibration in a way foam does not, and gel conforms closely so the load spreads evenly across the contact area. Gel has two trade-offs worth knowing. It is heavier than foam, which matters for anyone lifting a chair into a car. And it changes temperature slowly — a gel cushion left in a cold car is cold to sit on for a while, which some clients dislike intensely. For a client with genuine skin risk, the Hybrid is the correct cushion in this family: gel over a foam base, indicated by Blake for stage 1–2 pressure injuries and moderate skin-breakdown risk. For high risk or an existing deeper wound, neither Geo-Matrix cushion is sufficient and an air or hybrid air system should be specified.
