The G3 is a gel cushion with mild contouring, and "mild" is the operative word — it defines the client this suits. Contour depth in a cushion is a trade-off, not a quality ranking. A deeply contoured cushion holds the pelvis firmly in one position, which is what a client with significant asymmetry or poor postural control needs, but it also restricts movement. For a client who self-propels, shifts their own weight, or transfers independently, deep contours get in the way — they have to lift out of the wells to move, and they lose the freedom to make the small postural adjustments that keep them comfortable and offload their tissue through the day. Mild contouring is the middle position: enough shaping to discourage forward sliding and give the pelvis a defined seat, without locking the client into it. That suits someone with reasonable postural control who needs a defined base rather than correction. The gel layer gives conformity and spreads load over a larger contact area than flat foam, and damps vibration — which matters more than clinicians usually credit for a client who spends the day over rough footpaths and finishes it sore. Two trade-offs come with gel. It is heavier than foam, which affects anyone lifting the chair into a vehicle. And it changes temperature slowly, so a cushion left in a cold car stays cold for a while. Capacity is 140 kg. Check the cushion height against the chair's seat-to-floor dimension before quoting — adding a cushion raises the client, which can lift their feet off the footplates or stop their knees fitting under a table they previously used.
