Carilex Rollstop Coverlet

Easy to use coverlet that can be placed on any anti-decubitus mattress systems. Without the need to use side rails, this Coverlet is able to safeguard clients' position in bed and prevent fall/entrapment between the side rail and the mattress. It is an ideal coverlet that provides comfort, as well as securing client safety at the same time.

From the manufacturer

A coverlet placed over a pressure-redistributing mattress is one of the few accessories that can actively cancel the thing it sits on, so it is worth understanding why a purpose-designed one is different from a spare sheet. A pressure mattress works by **immersion**: the client sinks into the surface, load spreads across the largest possible contact area, and no single point carries a high pressure. Any layer laid over the top that does not stretch will bridge across the cells instead of following the client's shape — a hammock effect. The client is then held above the surface rather than in it, contact area collapses, and interface pressure at the sacrum rises. An expensive prescribed mattress can be substantially defeated by an ordinary draw sheet tucked in tightly. A coverlet designed for use over anti-decubitus systems is built to avoid that: it moves with the surface rather than resisting it, while still doing the protective job of catching moisture and taking the wear. That is the practical argument for it. The alternative — putting the mattress cover itself through repeated soiling and laundering — shortens the life of the component that carries the mattress's shear and vapour properties, and replacing a mattress cover is considerably more expensive than replacing a coverlet. Two rules whichever product is used. **One layer only** — layers compound, and two stretchy layers behave like one stiff one. And **keep it flat**; a fold or a rucked seam under a sacrum is a concentrated pressure point, which is precisely the situation the whole system was purchased to prevent. Confirm compatibility with the specific mattress, available sizes and laundering requirements before quoting.
