**Safe working load 305 kg** — among the highest available in a shower stool, and the reason to specify this one. Bariatric bathroom equipment is where under-specifying causes the most harm. A client above the rating of a standard 136 kg or 160 kg stool who uses one anyway is relying on a frame outside its design limit, in the one room where a failure means a fall onto hard, wet tile with nothing to grab. **Oval tubing rather than round.** Not cosmetic — an oval section is stiffer in the loaded direction for the same weight of material, which is how the frame reaches this rating without becoming unmanageable. **The backrest is an option, and at this capacity it should usually be taken.** Larger body mass means a higher and more forward centre of mass when seated, so a loss of balance develops more momentum and is harder to arrest. A backrest is doing more work here than on a standard stool. **Check the floor before relying on the suction caps.** Suction needs a smooth, non-porous, clean surface. Modern bathrooms are usually laid with a **textured anti-slip tile**, which suction will not seal against — nor will it grip grout lines or a floor with soap residue. At 305 kg of potential load, a stool that shifts is a serious event. Inspect the caps at every service and replace them once perished. Height-adjustable legs. **Set the seat so the feet are flat and the hips are level with or slightly above the knees.** Getting up from a low seat is disproportionately harder at higher body weight, so err on the higher side of the range. PVC seat and backrest for cleaning.
