**Washable head and armrest covers.** A small detail that decides how long the chair lasts in real use. The head and arm areas are where hair product, food, and continence incidents land first, and once upholstery is stained or soiled the whole chair usually gets replaced. Removable washable covers make it a laundry problem instead of a procurement one — which matters most in shared or care settings. **Battery backup.** On a lift chair this is a safety feature, not a convenience. Without it a power cut leaves a reclined user unable to bring the chair upright and unable to stand. For anyone who cannot self-transfer out of a reclined chair, it should be treated as essential. **Dual motor**, so back and leg rest move independently rather than on one fixed recline arc — relevant for a fixed hip angle, or where legs need to sit above heart height for oedema. A step below a four-motor chair, which adds independent headrest and lumbar control.
