**Safe-lowering technology: the back, leg and hi-lo functions only descend under the force of gravity.** This is the most important safety feature on the bed and it is easy to skim past. A powered actuator that drives downward can crush a limb, a pet, or a carer's hand caught beneath the platform. Gravity-only descent means the movement stalls against an obstruction instead of forcing through it. **Enclosed frame design** covers the moving base platform, closing the gap where a limb could otherwise be drawn in during hi-lo movement, and giving a cleaner edge to sit on when getting into bed. **Hi-lo** does two jobs that pull in opposite directions: lowered, it reduces fall injury risk overnight; raised, it lets a carer work without stooping. Both matter, and a bed with only one height serves neither. **Luminous under-bed halo** for night-time entry and exit. Falls cluster around unlit night-time transfers, and a floor-level light avoids the disorientation of switching on a bright overhead lamp at 3am. **Press-and-hold handset with a large-button interface.** Press-and-hold is a deliberate safety choice — movement stops the instant the button is released, so nothing continues running unattended. Large buttons suit reduced dexterity and low vision. **Box-on-box construction** allows true flush positioning where two beds are placed side by side, so a couple can remain in the same bed space when only one of them needs a care bed. That is a quality-of-life consideration that gets overlooked in clinical specification. Back raise supports posture and can ease reflux, respiratory symptoms and snoring. German-engineered motors for quiet operation — relevant when a partner shares the room and the bed is adjusted overnight.
