**250 kg — the first genuinely bariatric chair in the Ambassador Premier range**, and a 91 kg jump from the A2 below it. That is the largest step in the ladder, so the A3 covers a wide band of clients on its own. | Model | Safe working load | |---|---| | Premier A1 | 140 kg | | Premier A2 | 159 kg | | **Premier A3** | **250 kg** | | Premier A4 | 300 kg | | Bariatric Custom | up to 340 kg | **At bariatric capacity, custom sizing stops being a nice-to-have.** A standard-width recliner is simply too narrow, and a client who does not fit between the arms will perch forward on the front edge — no back support, no lumbar contact, and a much harder stand. But resist over-sizing on width. A seat wider than the client needs lets them lean, and a persistent lean becomes a fixed lateral posture with load concentrated on one ischial tuberosity. **The target is roughly 25 mm clearance each side of the hips — no more.** **Also measure:** - **Seat depth** — two to three fingers between the back of the knee and the seat edge - **Seat height** — feet flat, hips level with or slightly above the knees. Standing from a low seat is disproportionately harder at higher body weight, so err on the higher side - **Back height** — supporting the shoulders without pushing the head forward **Dual motor**, so backrest and leg rest drive independently. That matters more at this capacity, because legs frequently need elevating above heart height for oedema, and a single-motor chair cannot do that without also reclining the back. **Set the lift so it brings the client to standing height without tipping them forward off the front edge.** Getting this right matters more at higher body weight, where a forward tip is far harder to arrest.
