From the manufacturer

**The entry point of the Ambassador Premier ladder — 140 kg.** The range steps up cleanly, and choosing correctly is mostly a matter of not under-specifying: | Model | Safe working load | |---|---| | **Premier A1** | **140 kg** | | Premier A2 | 159 kg | | Premier A3 | 250 kg | | Premier A4 | 300 kg | | Bariatric Custom | up to 340 kg | **Weigh the client rather than estimating.** A lift chair is used many times a day for years, and a frame worked beyond its rating fails slowly — the mechanism gets stiff, the lift becomes uneven, and it eventually stops lifting straight. Where a client is near the limit or their weight is likely to change, step up. **Custom sizing is the reason to choose Ambassador over an off-the-shelf recliner.** Fit is the single thing that decides whether a lift chair works, and standard chairs come in two or three sizes that suit the average and nobody else. A chair that is too deep means the client slides forward to get their feet down, loses back support, and sacral sits for hours a day — loading the sacrum where pressure injuries form. Too wide and they lean, which over months becomes a fixed lateral posture. Neither is recoverable by adding cushions. **Measure and specify:** - **Seat depth** — two to three fingers between the back of the knee and the seat edge - **Seat width** — roughly 25 mm clearance each side of the hips - **Seat height** — feet flat, hips level with or slightly above the knees - **Back height** — to support the shoulders without pushing the head forward **Dual motor**, so the backrest and leg rest drive independently rather than on one fixed recline arc — which is what allows a fixed hip angle, a flexion contracture, or legs elevated above heart height for oedema. **Set the lift so it brings the client to standing height without tipping them forward off the front edge.** An over-set lift is a push, not an assist.

We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
