From the manufacturer

**Up to 340 kg, and built to measure.** This is the top of the Ambassador range, above the 300 kg Premier A4. **"Up to" is doing real work in that figure.** The chair is made to the client's dimensions, and the achievable safe working load depends on the configuration ordered. **Confirm the rating for the specific build being quoted rather than assuming 340 kg** — a wider or deeper seat does not automatically carry the maximum capacity. **At this end of the range, the chair is only half the specification. Plan the environment with it:** - **Floor loading.** Chair plus occupant can approach half a tonne, concentrated on four feet. On a timber floor, or an upper storey, that warrants checking - **Access.** Measure the doorway, the hall, and every turn between the front door and the room. A custom chair that cannot reach the room is an expensive problem, and it is discovered on delivery day - **Recline envelope.** Space needed behind and in front at full recline with the leg rest raised - **Transfer space** either side, particularly if a hoist or a second carer will be involved **Custom sizing is the point of this chair, and width is the measurement most often got wrong in both directions.** Too narrow and the client perches forward on the edge with no back support. Too wide and they lean — which over months becomes a fixed lateral posture, with load concentrated on one ischial tuberosity and a pressure injury risk that follows. **Target roughly 25 mm clearance each side of the hips.** **Also specify:** - **Seat depth** — two to three fingers between the back of the knee and the seat edge - **Seat height** — feet flat, hips level with or slightly above the knees. Err higher: rising from a low seat is disproportionately harder at this body weight - **Back height** — supporting the shoulders without pushing the head forward **Dual motor**, with independent leg rest control — which matters because oedema is common at this end of the range and the legs often need to sit above heart height without reclining the back. **Lead time will be longer than a stock chair.** Factor that into any funding application deadline.

We aim to make our range as accessible as possible. Some products may not be available in all areas — please contact BMS Plus to confirm availability and discuss suitable options.
