Affinity Bath Transfer Bench

A bath transfer bench solves a specific and dangerous problem: getting over the wall of a bathtub. Stepping over a bath edge requires single-leg standing balance on a wet surface with nothing solid to hold, and it is one of the more common mechanisms of a serious fall at home. The bench spans the bath wall, with two legs outside and two inside. The client sits down on the outside portion — on dry floor, with both feet planted — then slides across and lifts their legs over one at a time. The weight-bearing and the leg-lifting are separated into two manageable actions instead of being combined into one that requires balance the client may not have. What to check at assessment: • **Bath wall height and internal width.** The bench has to span the specific bath. Measure it. • **Leg height adjustment.** The inside legs sit on the bath floor and the outside legs on the bathroom floor — different levels. Both pairs need independent adjustment to get the seat level; a bench that slopes toward the bath is a slide hazard. • **Bath floor condition.** The inside legs need non-slip feet on a wet, curved acrylic or enamel surface. This is where cheap benches fail. • **Shower position.** If the shower head is fixed and high, a client seated on a bench may not be able to reach the water — a hand-held shower is usually needed alongside, and it is worth quoting together. One limitation to state honestly: a transfer bench requires the client to be able to shuffle laterally and lift their own legs, even if only with assistance. Where they cannot, this is the wrong equipment and a full transfer system is the correct prescription instead. Confirm current dimensions, adjustment range and weight capacity with the supplier before quoting.
