A bench that spans the edge of the bath so the client sits down outside it and slides across, rather than stepping over the rim. Stepping over a bath wall while wet is one of the highest-risk movements in a home bathroom, and this removes it entirely. **Reversible backrest.** This is the detail that decides whether the bench works in a given bathroom. Bathrooms are handed — the tap end, the door and the available standing space differ — and being able to reverse the backrest means one product suits either orientation. Check which way the client will approach before installation. **Three-piece plastic seat with drain holes**, so water runs through rather than pooling under the client. A **hand rail** for pushing up and steadying during the slide across, and a **welded frame** rather than a bolted one — fewer joints to loosen with repeated loading and wetting. Measure the bath's external width before ordering: the bench has to sit securely on both the floor and the bath rim, and an unsupported leg makes it unsafe.
