A **manual, non-powered** standing transfer aid — no motor, no battery, no charging. The client stands by pulling on the cross handle while bearing weight through the footplate; the carer stabilises and moves the unit. That makes the prerequisite clear: the client must have **enough upper-limb strength to pull themselves up and enough leg strength to take weight**. It is a step down in support from a powered standing lifter, and considerably further from a sling hoist. Where a client's ability fluctuates through the day, this may be safe in the morning and unsafe by evening — worth documenting. Where it does suit, it is quick, needs no charging, and lets a single carer manage bed-to-chair and chair-to-toilet transfers. Padded knee and seat supports, and **castor brakes** — the brakes should be applied for every transfer, not just parking, since the unit is being pulled against. **Two sizes: standard and bariatric.** Size selection is a fitting decision, not just a capacity one; the knee pad has to meet the client's shin at the right height to stop them sliding.
