Configured with **both a lap belt and a heel strap** as standard, which is worth noting because these are usually cost options. The heel strap is the one people overlook. It stops the foot sliding backwards off the footplate, which is a genuine injury mechanism — a foot that slips back can be dragged under the footplate and against the castor while the chair is moving. Where a user has reduced lower-limb awareness, poor motor control, or tone that pulls the legs back, the heel strap is doing real work. The lap belt is a **positioning belt, not a restraint**. It should sit across the pelvis at roughly 45° to the seat, not across the abdomen. Fitted too high it does not stabilise the pelvis and can cause harm if the user slides beneath it. **Height-adjustable armrests and footplates.** Armrest height set correctly supports the forearms and unloads the shoulders; set too high it elevates the shoulders, set too low it lets the trunk collapse sideways. Footplate height determines whether the thighs are supported along their length or the user is bearing weight through the ischial tuberosities alone — the latter is a direct pressure risk.
